English/Writing: ELA – Students will read, discuss, and write about literary, informational, and persuasive texts. Various learning activities and projects will accompany this whole class and independent reading designed to develop and practice skills, strategies, and understanding.

Physical Education: In Physical Education class, we will be covering many locomotor skills and object control skills via such sports like soccer, floor hockey and volleyball. Students are expected to carry out our core values of respect, honesty, compassion and responsibility throughout the entire year as well as our Full Value Contract from the cooperative games unit – Be Here, Be Safe, Set Goals, Be Honest, Let Go and Move On. A focus on fitness occurs twice a year with the fitness assessments utilizing the FitnessGram. Students are expected to be prepared for PE by wearing clothes that allow movement and participation, sneakers that are secured their feet and hair that is tied back out of their faces and eyes for safety.
