The school counseling program seeks to help students achieve their greatest potential mentally, emotionally, and socially, by providing the following:
- Helps new students transition to Reeds Brook Middle School
- Meets individually whenever a student, a parent, a teacher, or the counselor deems it necessary.
- Consults with parents, teachers, and administration to meet the needs of students.
- Welcomes students, parents, teachers to “talk things over” as needed.
Students or parents requiring help or information on substance abuse should contact the guidance counselor.
The RBMS Counseling Program supports the academic, social and personal development of each student. This is done through a comprehensive program that includes classroom lessons, individual meetings, and small groups to assist students’ to find academic, emotional, and social success. The counseling program helps promote a positive school climate where all students’ can feel safe and successful. The school counselor collaborates with students, parents, teachers and the community to assist RBMS students in achieving individual excellence.
Students, parents, and teachers are urged to consult with the counselor regarding any academic, social or emotional concerns. Appointments with the counselor can be made by directly emailing, calling, or contacting the front office.
The school counselor recognizes and honors the importance of confidentiality. Counselors are obligated not to disclose information shared within the context of the counseling relationship unless such disclosures are necessary for protection of the individual. These would include serious threats to their safety, or posing a serious threat to the safety of self or others.
